In my previous post, I began reviewing parenting blogs that were recommended in the book, Blogosphere: Best of Blogs, by Peter Kuhns and Adrienne Crew. Here are more blogs:
You gotta read this article about Clarence Edmonson, age 71, and his wife, Deborah, age 47, who recently adopted a 16 month old cutie named Naomi! The article is chocked so full of adoption relevant topics, I didn't know if I should post it here on the Older Parent Adoption blog, or on my other blog on Adoptive Parenting, or pass it on to Bill over at the Foster Care Blog, or to Michelle at the Foster Adopt Blog, or to Laura at the Christian Adoption Blog. I would love to see any, or all of these bloggers... more
So, with still no camera in sight, I am in the final countdown of preparations for Sheva Brachot (literally, seven blessings) that we are hosting at our home tonight. There is a custom for the seven days following a Jewish wedding that friends or family host a party - often a full meal or just a dessert - as a continued celebration of the actual wedding. It's actually one of my favorite traditions - it's much more intimate than the wedding itself and it sends the message that we are happy for the newlywedded couple not... more
The love pours out of your heart as you begin to dream of the child you are planning to adopt. You know there is paperwork, your know there will be wait times and frustrations, you even know it is going to cost but that is nothing compared to the love in your heart.
Then reality begins to set in. $25,000 might as well be $25,000,000. Where is it going to come from. This process will most likely take your savings and some assets and you may still come up shy. This is the situation that many face when committing to adopting a child. However, the love for children will push parents... more

The mission of Shaohannah's Hope is to care for orphans by engaging the church and helping Christian families reduce the financial barrier to adoption.

While on vacation I heard that CBS is offering up a new reality series this fall that allows participants to step back to crucial crossroads in their lives. and to choose the road they didn't travel. The show is called “What If” and turns back the clock and allows you to see what WOULD HAVE happened had you stayed with or in touch with the special people in your life.
One show that is currently being casted for is an episode that reunites people from your past and allows them to discover “what if”. The investigative team will track these special someones down and will... more
Sodium Pentothal, the so-called truth serum, was fairly popular at one point in time. It was used as a way to test people to determine if they were telling the truth. These days it is not commonly used as a method for testing an individual for their truthfulness. I wonder if some adoptees seeking answers wish that they could bring it back! The sheer unadulterated truth is often hard to come by in adoption.
There may be any numbers of “good” reasons for sugar-coating or down-playing the truth, or outright lying about the truth. Many people feel that it is sometimes better... more

In searching the web for unique fundraisers, I found Anna Bear. This looks like it would be a great way not only to raise money for your adoption but to also get the word out about adoption. These bears wear shirts that can be customized with the flag of your choice. From what I read it can also bear the image of your baby too! They read "I support adoption."
Here is a... more
Well here we go with some new about Ricky Holland, the child killed with a hammer and stuffed into a trash bag and left on the side of the road. All of this believed to be done by his parents. One parent against the other and the dad finally takes police to where Ricky's little body is found.
Is it sad that the parents are in jail? "NO." They as adults made a decision to adopt this little boy. Then they made another decision to kill this little boy.
I wonder what Ricky felt like as the hammer came smashing down on his body. From the very hands that should have been protecting him and seeking help for him?
We have no room on this earth for people who murder their... more
Most evenings I rock my 18 month old to sleep and then go lay her down in our bed for awhile before coming to bed myself. Usually she'll sleep till I come to bed. But sometimes she wakes while I am still tapping away on my computer. My husband brings her to me. She reaches sleepy arms out to me, cuddles into my arms, and instantly goes back to sleep.
Soon I'll lay her down again, and she'll sleep peacefully awhile longer. But always, always, soon after I finally climb in bed for the night, I feel her little hand reaching out for me, and sighing, she gets her whole self against me and settles back... more
