Back to analysis and next steps...

Grains of learning and improvement from the M Fray can be harvested not just by Malawian law and adoption officials, Changing our understanding of Africa: A hologram no more.but also by the international adoption community. Malawi is not the only place where “legal-style adoption is a foreign concept,” with systems flush with a different set of dynamics than the Amero-European norm.... more

National Strange and Mournful Day

Over the weekend I received a link to information about a national organization responding to National Adoption Month. The organization is Origins USA and the article states that Origins USA is a national organization of mothers who have had children taken for adoption, see this as a very painful, life altering event, and not something to be celebrated.

On the 30th of November, members of Origins USA, other supporters of natural families, various activism and support groups and their friends and families... more

Twists and the No Shampoo Method of Hair Care

I haven't shared any hair pictures in awhile, so when my 2 year old's hair turned out extra cute today, I snapped a couple pictures to share. I divided her hair into four sections and did one twist in each section. You can find a pretty good description of how to do twists here.

I decided while taking 15 minutes just to comb out the tangles that her hair is getting too long to leave loose for more than a day. It just gets... more

If the M Fray is the harbinger of important laws and issues not only being discussed, but positive changes made in the Just a few of thousands: children orphaned by AIDS in Malawimass of ambiguity and lack of attention to real-life, post-AIDS orphan issues in Malawi, then to me, the M Fray has been worth the drama. Is it ADD or Something Else? Part 1

Categories: Auditory Processing/CAPD

There are several articles that came linked in a recent e-newsletter from ADDitude Magazine’s on-line website. I found it interesting that a magazine on the subject of Attention Deficit Disorder would highlight articles that focus specifically on disorders that can be mistaken for ADD.

The first article is on Auditory Processing Disorder. The article talks about the overlap between the inattentiveness of ADHD and the distractability of not being... more

I love adoption! (Or, Dr. G. regains her sanity...sorta)

Wow. Today has been a banner day for me. Nothing like a full throttled hissyfit first thing in the morning to clear one's head and light a fire under one's own lazy derriere. Does wonders for the skin, too. And talk about one helluva mood elevator. Who needs Prozac when you can just go on a rant? I'll have to remember that in the future. Hey. Maybe that's how some people become addicted to being in a perpetual snit all the darned time. It has its benefits. Hmm. I'll have to remember that as well. I could easily become one of the snit addicts. Ha. Snit addict.... more

Christmas Tree

This is my final Christmas tree suggestions blog. I hope you and your family might be inspired to try something a little different this year. I know Gracie and I will be starting some of our own “siblings” traditions this year. Enjoy and happy memory making!!!

Operation Thankful: Finale

I’m bailing out from “Operation Thankful” a few days early. Unfortunately my main computer crashed (I’m not thankful for that!) and I had my posts for the last days of November pre-written and saved on the computer. And to be frank, I don’t have the time or energy to write them all over again and would like to use the time and energy I do have to focus on some of the upcoming issues.

I’m on my laptop at the moment.(I am thankful for that!) Hopefully, my main computer will be fixed in a few days. My Dad is my repair man, usually fixing any problems that come up, so he will look at it as soon as he has time and diagnosis the problem. I’m worried though! I’m thinking it might be kicking... more

I fell in love with this screen. However, I also just like this site. I’m not sure how I’ve missed it. It’s full of wonderful Korean items and I’m afraid they might get quite a lot of my money.
