December was a very busy and emotional month for me! I didn’t get to write as much as I wanted to between some tiny network issues when they debuted the blog makeover, the holidays, being sick, and Noah being on Christmas vacation just to name a few.
Although I didn’t get to write as much as usual, I did manage to squeeze in some holiday related posts. I discussed gift giving between birthmoms and their children as well as buying... more

This past year has been a really terrific experience for me. The opportunity to blog here has been a good one over all, with quite a bit shared about myself, as well as learned from others.
As I was looking back over my post for 2007, I began thinking about those that I am especially proud of, and those that I feel I was successful in capturing what I wanted to say. There are quite a few, and I wanted to take the opportunity to link back to them here, just in case you might have missed some of them.
Of course my kids are very important to me, and I blog about them... more

Well, we’ve made it through to the evening, after a few rough patches in the day!
After posting this morning, I doubled over in pain. My “monthly visitor” came for a visit, and I spent most of the next few hours under a heating pad!
After a nap, some tea, and lots of acetaminophen, I woke up refreshed! We all went out shopping for the house, and then stopped into a nice restaurant for a bit of dinner. The kids sang “Happy Anniversary” to us, and we came home.
We’ve had... more

I’m big on resolutions for the new year - well, I’m good at making them, I’m not so good on the follow through!
I do have a few resolutions as they relate to being a parent of faith:
The elders of the congregation we attend are encouraging everyone to try to read the Bible through in one year. Hubby and I have had many stops and starts over the years, but this time, I’d really like to read all the way through!
I’d like to slow down a bit. Sundays are a mad dash out of the door ... and every day after it is much the same. I am trying to pare down our... more
That’s right, today is my one year anniversary of blogging at Adoptionblogs.com, as hard as it might be for even me to believe! In place of the usual New Year’s eve party last December 31st, I was home watching the ball descend at Time’s Square on television, and posting my very first blog entry. I admit that I missed the ringing in of the new year because I was so anxious to get started on what I hoped would be a very exciting adventure sharing... more
Just as a suspected drunk driver made a very poor choice, one minute enjoying himself, drinking the night away, the next minute realizing he killed a mother and four children, so too was the unintentional creation of my children. Likely the drunk driver will serve time and then drink himself into oblivion every time he allows himself to think about what he has done.
Most of my children were created with zero thought as to either their future or any concern whatsoever that one particular night of sex would... more
Closing the Door to 2007 – "The Good"
I started talking about the good things that happened in 2007 that involved foster care, now I am moving to the not so good area.
The foster care system has been stretched to its limit this year. In Texas, foster children were left to sleep in Child Welfare offices, and later, to hotels rooms. Most states... more
Man did this year fly by and oh, what a year it has been. I have been writing here for a year now and what a great experience that continues to be. This short but busy year a lot has happened that involves foster care and also for me personally.
We will start with the good happenings and changes first. This country is slowly starting to realize when children are removed from their homes and become foster children that the responsibility should last past their 18th birthday. There are so many foster children that are aging... more
On the weekend edition of Good Morning America each weekend they have a segment called “Your Week in Three Words.” I love this segment. Viewers send in a short video of themselves explaining what happened during their week in a creative way in just three little words.
For example, one week in the video, you see a lady’s hand and on her palm is written “I said” and then her hand turns over and you see the top of her ring finger with the letters “Y-E-S” and a shiny engagement ring. They make a montage of the videos that viewers send... more
