Hello, my name is Heidi and my husband Jeff and I are the parents of 7 wonderful children. Four were born to us, and 3 were adopted internationally. Our children in chronological order are: Nicole, 23 and now married; Lynn, 20 and living away at college; Taylor, 18; Alyssa, 14; Caleb, 11, coming home very soon from China; Benjamin, 10 and adopted from China at the age of 4; and Micheline, 6, adopted from Haiti at the age of 4.
I am both a Registered Nurse and Sign Language Interpreter by education, but am blessed to mainly be a stay-at-home Mom at this time while I raise my children. I have children who are homeschooled and children who are in the public school system, and they range from being in the gifted program to having a variety of special needs. One of our children is deaf, and although he uses a cochlear implant, we are a signing family. I will be sharing much more in depth about my family on my blog, so come on over and visit.
I am passionate about children and adoption and excited to be sharing about both on the “Adopting a Sibling” blog. Adding to your family via birth and adoption, as well as adding a variety of races, cultures, and languages makes for a very conspicuous family, but we wouldn’t change our family dynamics for anything. I look forward to sharing what we have learned about adoption, raising children, adding siblings, etc., and am eager to learn from each of you as well.
