1327405_so_paulo_-_cityI am pulling another early morning which seems so weird to me since I am not an early morning girl- strictly a late nighter. Yet, in order to have any chance of thinking, I must arise before my tribe. They are in such a loud and rowdy phase right now. I can barely string a coherent sentence together. I struggle in the area of thinking when chaos surrounds me. It is almost as if I feel engulfed by the crazy and cannot recover. For that reason, I have considered locking my doors, porting in food and throwing away the key. The bad news? I know that they would pick the lock, find me and then eat my food.

Our weekend in the city was great. We had such a nice time. For the most part, the children got along well. I couldn’t believe how nice the day was. Everyone else must have thought it was nice as well because the line was so long. It was amazing. We waited for over 45 minutes to park. Then we walked toward the entrance only to find people lined out of the lobby, down the many steps and around the building. For us that wasn’t an issue because our daughter cannot do all of those steps so we use the handicap entrance. Imagine my surprise when we got to the handicap entrance and found a line of fifty people or so. We again got lucky though because we are members. When we reached the main lobby, we had the joy of getting in line behind two families, checked in and off we went. Whew! We dodged a bullet on that one.

You really can’t beat the learning that happens in a place like the aquarium. I love it. OSG loves it. He is my tactile learner. He has to touch it, taste it, smell it- well, you get the idea. The aquarium is the perfect place for him to do all of those things and not get yelled at. Though I have yet to see him taste anything there! It breaks my heart to admit that I noticed that he is growing out of the aquarium- we have been there many times in his growing up years. The good news is that heĀ is growing into their trainer for a day program and other hands- on classes. That is the plan for next year.

We will be going to Chicago for Round 2 very soon. The Museum of Science and Industry will be featuring an exhibit dedicated to the TV Show, Mythbusters. All of my children cannot wait. I cannot either. I just hope we get half as nice of a day.

Adding culture and perspective to a child’s life is important. That is why it is such a priority for me to make it happen. I want all of my children to grow up in a normal, healthy world. Opening their eyes past their own backyard is part of that. So many cultures and countries are represented in these aquariums and museums, it is an amazing way to connect the dots for my kids.
